One of the most iconic parts of Calgary Stampede is the nightly fireworks—lighting up the sky in bursts of color, celebration, and Stampede spirit. Whether you’re right in the heart of the action or looking for a quieter spot away from the crowds, we’ve put together a list of the best places in the city to catch the show.

Here’s where to post up for the perfect fireworks view this Stampede season:
📍 Stampede Grounds — 1410 Stampede Trail SE
Best for: An up-close experience
The most obvious choice—and for good reason. Watching the fireworks from inside Stampede Park puts you right under the action .
WANDERING TIP: Hop on the WestJet Sky Ride just before showtime for a sky-high view of the fireworks that’s unforgettable.
📍 Scotsman’s Hill — Salisbury Street & 17 Ave SE
Best for: Sweeping skyline views
This is a local favorite with an unbeatable view of the skyline and fireworks. The road might be closed, so be prepared to park nearby and walk up the hill. It’s 100% worth it.
📍 Hillcrest Avenue — Mount Royal
Best for: Elevated views from the west
This one’s popular for a reason. The view is amazing—but so is the crowd. Parking fills up fast, so arrive early and pack some patience (and snacks).
📍 Highfield Road — Near Stampede Park
Best for: A short walk from the grounds
This is a more low-key spot within walking distance of the Stampede Grounds. You’ll still hear the music and cheering in the background while watching from a cozy corner. Pro tip: Park early, or prepare to walk!
📍 Tom Campbell Hill — 25 St. George’s Drive NW
Best for: A quieter view away from downtown
Tucked out of the downtown rush, this hill offers a peaceful vibe with great fireworks visibility. Bring a blanket, bug spray, and your best chill mood.
📍 Max Bell Arena — 1001 Barlow Trail SE
Best for: Easy access and lots of parking
One of the easiest spots to access, with plenty of parking and solid sightlines. Locals start showing up around 9:00 p.m., so arrive a little earlier to snag a front-row view.
📍 South Glenmore Park — 24 St SW
Best for: A quiet night out
Great for families or couples looking for a less hectic evening. You’ll be able to catch the bigger bursts, but some of the lower fireworks might not be visible from this distance.
📍 Crescent Heights
Best for: Jaw-dropping views of the city
This is one of the most breathtaking vantage points in Calgary—but expect big crowds and strict parking bans. Walking in is your best bet, but it’s absolutely worth it for the view.
📍 Nose Hill Park — 6465 14 St NW
Best for: Nature meets fireworks
A bit of a distance from the Stampede grounds, but offers a unique panoramic view of the city and fireworks. Be sure to bring bug spray and something comfy to sit on.
📍 Ogden Park — Ogden Way SE
Best for: A hidden gem (maybe!)
We haven’t checked this one out yet—but we’ve heard great things! If you make it out there, let us know what you think. Always down to find new favorite spots!
