    The Calgary Black Film Festival (CBFF), a not-for-profit organization created by the Fabienne Colas Foundation, is about discovery and Inclusion. CBFF wants to amplify more Black voices and showcase the most relevant Black films from here and abroad while creating a space to debate major cultural, social, and socio-economic issues. The Calgary Black Film Festival is dedicated to giving unique voices in cinema the opportunity to present audiences with new ways of looking at the world. CBFF’s ambition is to encourage the development of the independent film industry and to promote more films on the reality of Black people from around the Globe.

  • University District (U/D) will be hosting the first of its Summer U/D Night Market event series on Wednesday, May 28, 2025.


    Featuring more than 35 local artisan vendors in partnership with Marketspot, this free outdoor event will offer visitors exceptional entertainment for the entire family to enjoy.


    Such entertainment will include the rock ‘n’ roll music of Southwest Electric, a four-piece band delivering a blend of blues, southern rock, alt-country, and folk sounds.


    Other performers include Duke Domino, a Calgary-based singer-songwriter known for his jazz, blues, rock, and pop-inspired sound; Joash Charles, will kick off the night off with energetic DJ set that will set the tone as you scroll through the market; and, The Jason Circus Variety Show will deliver a playful, family-friendly variety show for audiences of all ages.


    Visitors will get to experience a community gathering that not only has live entertainment, but also unique artisan shopping.

Mahler’s Resurrection
